Amazon has announced the release date of The Boys season 2. On Friday, Septem 4th, they will premiere the first three episodes of its second season. The brand new episodes will be available each Friday until the season finale on Oct. 9.

Season 2 guest star Patton Oswal broke down the news during a streaming event.

The Boys Season 2

“crazier, stranger, more intense, more emotional,” and joked that “the Surgeon General has insisted we air the first three episodes on September 4, then air the remaining five episodes weekly after that. We wanted to give you time to freak out, digest, discuss, come down from the high before we give you another dose. We only have your well-being in mind. I hope you love the season as much as we do.”

Those are the words of Creator and executive producer Kripke. The Amazon Original series is available on Prime Video in more than 200 territories around the world. It is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises, and Original Film.

The Boys debuted its entire first season last year on July 26. They released all eight episodes to the streaming service at once. For Season 2, Amazon has decided to take a different route. The series will drop the first three episodes on Sept. 4 and then release the remaining episodes weekly.

Amazon has released a first look trailer for the sequel of their superhero show.

The Plot

In the new season, The Boys are on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes. They are trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) in somewhere that cannot be found. At that time, Starlight must navigate her place in The Seven. Meanwhile, Homelander’s power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront, a social-media-savvy new Supe. She has a plan of her own. Also, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
